About Jennifer MaHarry
Jennifer travels across the globe in search of wild animals, capturing their exquisite detail through her lens. With a deep respect for each creature, she photographs them with dignity—honoring their presence, their wildness, and their inherent value. Her work invites the viewer to see animals not just as subjects, but as sentient beings worthy of awe and respect.
Getting up close and personal with wild mustangs, 600-pound bears, mountain lions, wild orca, along with a wide variety of other wild creatures is one of the hallmarks of her work, but it’s her finely honed design skills that take it to the next level.
As a creative director in Los Angeles, Jennifer art directed photoshoots with some of the most well known photographers in the world to create hundereds of iconic movie posters. Throughout her career, she routinely pared things down to their simplest form in order to communicate with the viewer in an immediate and impactful way.
Bringing this sensibility into her nature photography, Jennifer shoots primarily in high contrast black and white, utilizing plenty of negative space to reduce distraction, revealing each animal’s unique personality and exquisite form. Her aim is to give the viewer the same sense of immediacy she experienced while taking the photo.
Based in Woodstock, NY, Jennifer now lives with her husband, their nine year old son, two cats, a dog, along with owls, fox, deer, and myriad other creatures who visit them in their forest on a daily basis.
Featured in national print publications and numerous solo exhibits, her work has raised over $100,000 for environmental charities supporting wildlife preservation.
Jennifer MaHarry images can be found in Crate & Barrel and the Sundance Catalog.
”As a fine art photographer with a background in art direction and graphic design, I create images that live at the intersection of art and advocacy. My reverence for wild animals and untouched landscapes drives me to make bold and contemplative images, designed to stir emotions and spark awareness.
Extensive design training informs how I frame each subject, using composition and negative space to pull the viewer in and hold their attention. Each image is a carefully crafted moment, meant to elevate the subject and invite wonder.
My work introduces the untamed world into interior spaces, intended to remind us of our roots and our connection to the natural world. Through these images, I aim to foster that connection and encourage a deeper sense of appreciation and ultimately protection of our wild world”
